Olivia inspires future generations through traineeship

St Saviour’s College student Olivia Fowler is considering a career in teaching and was thrilled to embark on her School-Based Apprenticeship (SBA) at St Stephen’s School in Pittsworth.

Olivia is studying for a Certificate III in School-Based Education Support, and this opportunity is not just a stepping stone but a chance to immerse herself in the world of education and gain hands-on experience.

Olivia's journey began earlier this year when she stepped into the classrooms of St Stephen's School. She was assigned to assist in the years 1 to 5 classrooms and has been involved in working with small groups, organising engaging activities, and providing one-on-one support to students.

“I wanted to do an SBA after I had completed my work experience as it made me realise how much I loved working with kids and wanting to become a primary school teacher in the future,” Olivia said.

“Another factor that made me want to do an SBA was so I could learn skills that will be useful for University.”

Olivia's experience at St Stephen's is not just about gaining skills; it's about making a difference in the lives of her students.

“My favourite part so far has been working with a variety of kids and being a part of their learning journey,” she said.

As Olivia’s traineeship progresses, her enthusiasm and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

Janine Butlin, Principal of St Stephen’s School, praised her natural talent for teaching, stating, "She has a gift for connecting with students and fostering their growth."

Olivia will conclude her traineeship at the end of 2026.

She is a shining example of how passion and dedication can lead to meaningful change in the community.

Her journey is just beginning, and the future looks bright for this aspiring teacher as she strives for success.
