The St Saviour’s School Library is a hub of learning and creativity, supporting our Mercy approach to pedagogy. Through our physical and digital spaces, classes and collections we empower students, staff and the wider St Saviour’s community to engage with their learning with confidence, creativity and a strong sense of wellbeing. The Library is a place to grow our students’ values, to strive for excellence in all they do, to be just in all their actions, to show compassion in their daily lives and display hospitality and welcome all to join them.
The Library spaces, open to our school community, provide flexible learning areas for classes, students on study periods and extra-curricular events. The Library has a large range of books, magazines, class sets, teacher resources, ebooks, audiobooks and more for students, staff and parents to borrow.
The Library’s online platform is accessible 24/7 from School and anywhere off-campus. The platform enables students to access the catalogue of physical resources, ebooks, and audiobooks. It also provides access to a range of specially created pages on research and subject content to make studying easier for students, as well as information on research skills, website evaluation, digital literacy, and cyber safety.
The Library is open before and after school, morning tea and lunchtime for students to browse, borrow, read, or study. Students are also welcome to join in on our special events – at least one per term – or the activities we run through the year.
All classes are encouraged to visit the Library for regular weekly or fortnightly reading session. The Secondary Library also hosts many classes across a range of subjects for information and digital literacy sessions with the teacher librarian on topics such as referencing, database use, research skills and online safety.
